Gus Morales – Teacher, Social Justice Education Activist Gus Morales is the former president of the Holyoke Teachers Association and a former teacher for Holyoke Public Schools. The Holyoke Public Schools fired Gus in June of 2014 after speaking out against a district-wide initiative to post student test scores publicly on walls, a practice known as “data walls.” Following an investigation by the Massachusetts Department of Labor Relations and an outpouring of public support, Gus was reinstated in November of 2014 only to be fired again at the end of the 2014-15 school year.
